Self-Check and Wait no More in Vain
Have you experienced frustration due to missed opportunities? I do, on so many occasions. I'm sure you have had the same experience. Take heart because we are not alone. Truth is that if there's one opportunity people these days missed out, it's actually the lack of patience resulting to unwanted outcomes.
These days, we are so focused on rush moments. Ironic but yes, we have the fastfood, quick cook food, MRT, LRT, super fast trains, private and charter jets, trimesters in the academe, fast track or crash courses etc. etc. I initially thought these are few of the reasons why people age so fast not because we're advanced (or so we thought) in so many things but because we worry too much on what's tomorrow would offer us. The result? Well, many wouldn't dare to spend another day or two waiting for best outcomes. Some would initially take the risks just to take advantage of the so-called "immediate opportunities." Too bad, some ended up experiencing frustrations and actually have wasted time.
Of course, that's not always the case for many other people. There are achievers, skilled and really talented individuals who are "accelerated" for success. I see these individuals in my place of work especially during my travels in the sites we support. I see young pros and I see the demographic in these sites as young active professionals. I see young and assertive leaders who have time to improve the leadership band. Yes, they are the cream of the crop so to speak and I always admire their talents, their wits and their skills.
But what if you're one of those who have been eyeing for an elusive promotion? Or if you're someone who's waiting for your Knight in Shining Armor for your whole 30-something life? Would you rather feel bad about not getting what you want or what you need? If you are, wait for a sec and do a quick self-check. You may want to ask yourself of these questions:
1. How long have I been waiting for this?
2. Are my goals aligned with my personal perseverance?
3. Am I emotionally ready to do things differently according to my goals?
4. Is there a need for me to change or adopt changes in any possible way so I'll meet my goals?
5. Am I exhibiting optimism that I can really achieve my goals?
If you haven't done any quick self-check, I'd recommend you start doing this now. At times, we feel bad for not getting that promotion, that dream job or meet the right guy/woman for us mainly because we fail to check our own motives or goals. Worse is that we sour grape and feel bad about not getting what we wanted because we think no one is noticing our good performance or our good attributes. Is that really the case or is it this out of your busy time that you fail to do a self-check?
Yes, you and I don't have to wait in vain if we both know how to make use of our time wisely. Be busy doing self-advancements making yourself ready for greater things. Remember, you are not to waste your time waiting in vain. Rather, use your waiting time to improve yourself, focus on things you can control and develop a waiting attitude. Why? Realize this: there are greater things happen for those who knows how to wait patiently. (Mic 7:7)

“We don't read and write poetry because it's cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion. And medicine, law, business, engineering - these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love - these are what we stay alive for.”-DPS from Robin Williams. Readers of this blog also read The Freelance Writer Online blog.
