As Big as the Rafter
No, I can't be too sure myself.
Being a critique is an innate profession every individual is capable of doing. Truth is that, you don't have to graduate cum laude in an academe to be a good critique. Regardless if you're in the corporate world or within the boundaries of your own home, criticizing others can't just pass beyond your vision. Remember, your roaming eyes can always see not just the good things but also the not so good things. This holds true with people.
Apparently, many are becoming more of a critique than an inspiration to others. Apathetic individuals may feel that there's a strong need to air their opinions on matters thinking that freedom is equally distributed to all. Of course, everybody's free. But are you free to pick on other people's mishaps? Or perhaps, you consider the other person as less viable or capable compared to you, someone on a low status?
Too bad is because when we pick on other people, we fail to consider our own. In the pages of the book of Matthew 7, Jesus encouraged his followers to stop judging so to be not judged. Many, even during those times, are critics and are personally acclaimed judges. These self-righteous people only see other peoples' mishaps, know only the unfortunate situations and have been dragged by their own desires to judge forgetting their own limitations and incapabilities.
Yes, you and I may see the straw or the mishaps of other people. But have we tried checking our own flaws? Maybe, these flaws are bigger than the straws we see on others' eyes, a rafter that's keeping us blind all these times. Are you like me who'd like to keep balanced and non-judgmental views immediately? Besides, who are we to judge anyway?

“We don't read and write poetry because it's cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion. And medicine, law, business, engineering - these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love - these are what we stay alive for.”-DPS from Robin Williams. Readers of this blog also read The Freelance Writer Online blog.
